Sweet melodies all around,
come alive in a morning song
The rising sunlight on my face,
mercies fresh and new
I hear the songs of many birds,
each unique
They unite,
in a random symphony
A distant noise constant,
cars carry their masters to their assignments
Yet here I sit before my Creator,
my Heavenly Father
Whom I lovingly refer to simply as,
Papa.
I am grateful for all He has given,
grateful for all He has done
Where would I be without His
Agape kind of love?
Hustling and bustling,
in my own strength
Striving to achieve the next award,
to be left empty as before
Wanting more,
nothing to satisfy
Until I met my LORD.
Jesus came in a way unexpected,
When I sought intellectual proof,
He gave me love.
Love I had searched for,
but didn't know I needed
Love I didn't expect to find,
in One I could not touch or feel.
That was my supposed love language,
after all.
Oh, but His love did touch me.
I felt it to my core,
from the top of my head to the tips of my toes
He showered me in a love
I had never known.
It was nothing I ever deserved,
Not the kind of love I sought,
It was pure,
unwavering,
a selfless kind of love.
I thank God for imparting His love that day,
not for a mere feeling,
but an experience beyond anything I ever believed
To be touched by the love of God,
is to be touched by grace
For I never deserved,
His gaze upon my face
When I failed to gaze back upon His,
unworthy in my own sight
He pulled me into Himself and said,
now see yourself through my eyes.
There I stood, bold and true,
radiating light I had not yet understood
Baring armor gleaming white,
no hint of fear,
Just confident delight.
If this is how He sees me,
how He made me to be,
Then why shouldn't I see me
just the same?
How else might I achieve all
He intends me to do?
It won't come feeling unworthy,
unfaithful,
untrue.
It WILL come when I take hold,
of all He calls me to do
In confidence,
in power,
in grace,
In all He created me to be,
when I gazed upon mine own face
Through eyes of grace.
